FTIC students will write a personal purpose statement outlining their academic goals as part of the QEP SLO #1.

Personal Statement of Purpose (assignment) (60 points possible)

The Personal Purpose Statement is a written essay about your academic goals and how they relate to your unique abilities, career goals, and personal interests. Your first draft will be revised throughout the semester, and a final draft will be submitted at the end.
Consider addressing the following in your essay:

a) What brings me to college?

b) What do I hope to accomplish by the end of my time here?

c) What will I do with myself while I’m here?

d) What degree or certificate do I intend to pursue?

e) Based on my academic goals, how long do you think I’ll be studying here?

f) In the future, what professional field do I want to be a part of?

g) How do my personal goals and career choices align?

h) What is my role in the educational process?
