Paris Climate Accord
You should conduct independent research utilizing reputable sources to educate yourself about the Paris Climate Accord – what it was, why the Obama administration supported it, and why the Trump administration decided to withdraw from it. From there, you are to apply realism and liberalism. Based on your own research, the assumptions of both theories that we covered in lecture, and the information provided in the course readings….
– Provide a succinct description of the accord and its purpose (this should be the smaller portion of your paper as the focus should be on applying the theories).
– Explain President Obama’s decision to sign the accord from the lens of liberalism.
– Explain President Trump’s decision to withdraw from the accord from the lens of realism.
Make sure to cite your sources throughout your essay (see plagiarism statement below). You should be using both outside sources to educate yourself on the accord and the assigned articles to help you with the theories.
This is not an opinion piece. Your paper should be objective and simply convey the facts. The goal of this paper is not to support or reject one side over the other, but to demonstrate how the theories can help us understand two very different approaches.
