Manager Team Project #2 – The purpose of this exercise is to increase awareness of our healthcare experiences as patients, family members and caregivers. You must have the patient’s perspective in mind when looking at how to improve organizations.

You may utilize your textbook as a reference for completing this assignment. You may use your textbook to gain guidance regarding the issues that you identify in the scenario. (DO NOT PLAGARIZE material from the text. However, you should be able to support your recommendations.

You have recently been asked to meet concerning the employees who do not feel that they or the patients will be able to be cared for now that many are showing up with signs of COVID 19 in your healthcare facility (You are the Healthcare Operations Manager for EXCEL Care).

You must submit a plan of action which includes a memo to your employees and a plan of action for your facility to the leadership team regarding how you will communicate about COVID 19 AND you have just been advised about the following situation that has transpired.

Ms. Blaire was not happy about a recent experience a month ago with the staff at EXCEL. She and her family have expressed that they have come to expect subpar service and long waits. Ms. Blaire has been extremely frustrated and usually doesn’t speak up when asked to complete a patient satisfaction survey because she says it takes up too much time.

However, she’s now decided to let her daughter submit one for her to express her discontent with the practice. She has recently found out that she has COVID 19 believes that someone in the facility gave it to her while she was there on her last visit. In the past she has mentioned that the staff at EXCEL think that they “know everything”.

Ms. Blaire’s daughter has mentioned to a nurse that her mother feels that the facility makes preferences to those patients who do not have state sponsored insurance plans (like Medicare and Medicaid). Ms. Blaire’s situation has been brought to your attention and you will need think about how this should be addressed.

Directions:

-Each student should submit the following three things.

1. A Plan of action for your leadership team that identifies the steps you will be taking regarding the facility during the time of the PANDEMIC. No morethan 1 and ½ pgs. Examples of what you should consider include: what you will do about patients who cannot make payments, employees who may be ill and all of the other factors that may impact your facility. Will you have any remote workers? Etc.
2. A Memo to all facility employees regarding your expectations of them during the COVID 19 pandemic and what they should be aware of and looking for as within the facility and what you information is important for them to maintain confidence in the organization.
3. A list of things that you believe are important to discuss with Ms. Blaire and her daughter regarding their concerns. You will eventually be speaking with your team about this over the next day or two.
