After carefully reading Hobbes. Please develop a 750 word (this is minimum word count; you can write more but not less) response to the following question: How do Hobbes and Locke conceptualize democracy, or the relationship between the multitudes and sovereign power? In other words, how do these authors conceptualize the various power relationships that are essential for the development of a peaceful political society (democratic or otherwise)?
To make the most compelling analysis, compare and contrast how Hobbes and Locke discuss the nature of individual and sovereign power, and how the state of nature affects those power relations. How do they compare? Are there any similarities? What are their main differences?
This is one of the assignments where you are well advised to select one aspect of their theories, summarize it fully, and analyze it as best as you can. Please support your ideas with textual evidence and to elaborate your claims in as much detail as possible. For example, you can take Chapter 13 in Hobbes’s Leviathan and compare it to its counterpart in Locke’s work. This is just an example, and you must select the one aspect that both of these authors develop in their work.
