Comparison and Contrast of Renaissance to Now
People are social beings who seek to satisfy their wants and needs through creativity in social, physical, intellectual, and spiritual aspects. As times continue, the advancement gradually increases and, in the end, it marks a difference, which is normally called innovation. Europe is a good example of that, in several past centuries, there has been a difference between the Renaissance and contemporary society in the present day. The difference is that there is a significant development in morals and social behaviors that defines the limits of socialization with fellow people. On that note, the several values, knowledge, and skills that are relevant in our society today. Therefore, in this essay, it depicts that the two eras had technological advancement in artwork in the respective periods as described in the following paragraphs.
The two periods have a comparison in art. To comprehend that, art is expressed in literature, painting, music, and sculpture. In Renaissance time, advancement in art was crucial and played a major role in religion. Before the printing of the first book kin Germany, the most common literature material that was available was the bible though it was written in the Latin language (Panofsky, 2018). The problem is that no one would understand that; and therefore, a scholar such as Martin Luther translated the bible to a common language that would be understood by every. Moreover, the first press company in Gutenberg was established, Germany, which facilitate the tradition of literature. The advancement in literature became a tool to criticize both church and politics. Many books were printed rejecting the authority from Rome, which motivated for religious movements such as Pentecost.
Besides, it was a convenient way where an activist would pass thoughts against political ideology to insight people. The same thing in the time was are living; millions of copies are printed and sold concerning political and religion, for instance, newspapers the same case, books have because a platform for learners, authors, and all sorts of people to acquire or convey their ideas. Nevertheless, a noticeable difference is there due to the presence of technology. It is a fact that the two eras used a library where one would access a copy, but in the contemporary world, one can get off the access with a computer so-called softcopy. Moreover, the painting was much appreciated more than today mostly in Cathedrals. The master-piece work was fascinating and prominent leaders and people in the society were painted, which is the same case with photographs.
Today, painting is still done; however, the aid of technology has prompted the use of software in the computers to do so depicting the difference between the two periods. Besides, people value painting and they are an expensive masterpiece, but a present of photography seems to overwhelm everything. In music, the similarities between the Renaissance and the present is that it included enlightenment and entertainment. In both cases, the music continues to an important part of our cultural identity because the audience is willing and ready to hear and accept the performance. However, in the due time, music could only be performed on stage while the audience is keenly listening since it was just an event. The message and lyrics could have persevered mentally, but in the present time, it can be recorded and preserved. However, in the Renaissance, it would not be hard for the music presentation to take place in the streets, plays, castles, theatre for entertainment (Panofsky, 2018). Besides, it was played in the church as it still happens in today’s world. Moreover, it is played in concerts, plays, special events providing meaningful content. Also, the weakness and attributes contribute much in learning important values, which has not changed since the past.
To sum up, in both eras there has been differences and similarities in technological advancement and art in Comparison and Contrast of Renaissance to Now. In the examples provided above it shows their level of advancement and usefulness in society. At a mere glance, one could see that Renaissance was primitive, but it was not. The permittivity has prompted the advancement that is present; and therefore, the main themes are technological advancement way of doing things.
