Communications Human Relations Paper
This week I learned that “Self-disclosure” is a key ingredient in building trust with others in a healthy way. once I read “Self-disclosure also helps with building relationships. When individuals exchange personal information, they learn more about each other and become more comfortable with each other.” (DeVito, 1989, p.127). I immediately went deep into my own mind and recalled countless of moments in which my communication was flawed. I see many of my mistakes in the past being solved by building a healthier foundation of trust first.
In the workplace there will be times when you will be asked to do things are not enjoyable. I constantly remind myself that when I’m at work, that if I’m not being paid to give my constructive input in then I keep my thoughts to myself. Whenever I get into any kind of communication disagreement, I find myself in is defused with reexplanations. As long as there is a understanding before every work day that my opinion mostly does not matter there are fewer disagreements. If I were ever emotional in the workplace it would be provoked by a tramatic event on a large scale, which at that point I would take the day off.
