After reading the assigned material, what I found very interesting was the differences between science and scientism. Personally, I tend to agree more with the scientific approach tan the scientism view. Since I am more inclined to science it makes more sense to me when applying these concepts to the nursing profession. As nurses and researchers, we use the scientific method to find answers and come up with evidence-based research that can become part of our practice or in other words evidence-based practice.

Looking at the analysis of disease, we can conclude that science and scientific method has made advancement in medicine and nursing practice. Not only the development of vaccines and treatment but it is because of the method that today we can provide our patients with better care than we did thirty years ago.

Some studies have been conducted to understand how nurses view the importance of science knowledge (Birks, Ralph, Can’t, Chun Tie, & Hillman, 2018).
