Consider the laws of Hammurabi in the document assigned as well as those reproduced in your textbook. What do Hammurabi’s laws tell us about the role of the Babylonian government in regulating family life? Does this seem the same or different from the other societies (Egyptian, Akkadian) that you read about in your Wiesner-Hanks? Be sure to use names, dates and examples to support your essay! You DO NOT need formal footnotes, but do give short citations (Wiesner-Hanks, p 35) or Hammurabi, Law 21).
