I selected to study the Teen Homelessness Task Force and research how the Ruby Lake Community can address the issues of teen homelessness. The Task Force relied on qualitative research which is research that is conducted firsthand. Effective research requires participants to work through the first cycle of investigation by exploring and examining the ways stakeholders describe or interpret their problems (Stringer,2014).

Speaking directly with those affected by homelessness will allow the taskforce to find ways to combat homelessness. Conducting interviews is a method used to research the issue of homelessness within the community. Interviews allow the homeless population to describe their own situation in the own words and detail their experience in a personal manner. The interview process recognized the legitimacy of their experience (Stringer,2014).

Focus groups will be a way to gather information and speak directly to those affected and finding out the causes of their homelessness and how the task force can assist them. Reviewing case studies will be another method used to gauge the success of other programs and how other communities successfully combated homelessness.
