Ben was tasked with completing our “Productivity and Leadership Profile.” This method allows each team member to anonymously respond to questions regarding how they see Ben in a variety of areas, such as leadership, communication, and organization. Ben also responds to the same questions on his own self-perception.
Ben felt he was a good employer because he was easy to get along with, it turned out. However, his team’s comments indicated that he wasn’t a competent leader. The lads needed a clear path to follow… someone to look up to. They required a structure, workable parameters, and regular follow-up.
They never held a team meeting to talk about what was working well and how to make things better. A meeting was only convened after a client complaint was received.
